VALENTINES DAY QUAD AM.

You could hardly believe it was February! It was a glorious day with hardly any wind and lots of sunshine. Great conditions for our Valentines Quad-am. 32 players took part and many thanks go to Alex Bushby who as our reserve came and took part at the last minute following a call off. Thanks Alexandra.

Also many thanks to Marion who single handedly did the draw, posted the notices and the provided the cards and a copy of the rules for us all. Unfortunately Iain was called away to Sheltand for a few days. So many thanks Marion for a great job.
The winning team are below:
From left to right, Dawn Butchart, Iain Butchart. Peter Tinker who presented the prizes, Sheena Scott and Sandy Robertson.

2nd place Team:
From left to right Dougie Gillespie, Peter Tinker who presented the prizes, Rob Milligan, Eric Gray and Russell Peacock.

Following a superb meal with excellent service, we were all treated to a 'Mystery Guest' who was none other than our very own Gwyn Gray. Gwyn was a real treat with a touch of both humour and warmth she was a delight to listen to. Here are a couple photos of her during her performance:

Then our compere, David Norman took over for the rest of the evening, when he hosted a 'Mr & Mrs' competition. David puts so much work and effort into these events we are truly lucky to have him! Here he is below:
He certainly gets into the spirit of the evening!! He managed to cajole 5 couples into taking part:
They were from left to right Anne and Eric, Sheena and Jack, Lesley and Graham, Dawn and Iain and Joan and Eric.
Here are a few photo's of what really was a lot of fun.

After lots of fun and very close finish in 2nd place was Joan and Eric with 16.5 out of 20 and the overall winners were Dawn and Iain with 18 out of 20.

Our winners Dawn and Iain.
Many thanks once again to Marion for all her hard work and David and the Centre for another super mixed event.
P.S. What do you think of the new pond?? Isn't if fantastic! Over the weekend our Captains Jack and Jane did quite a bit of research on it. They even, on our behalf, checked to see how big the splashes were when a ball hits the water from the tee!!! Thoughtful or what!

MESSAGE FROM AMERICA

Following the fantastic news of a hole in one for Annette here is an EMail I received from John and Mary Menzies with all the information regarding Annette's great feat!

HI Dawn.
Something for your ladies web site, we had a visit from Pat and Jill Baron and Pete and Annette Grewar, they spent a couple of days with us we showed them around Naples and arranged for them to play golf on our course here at Countryside. Would you believe Annette played great on what is by no means an easy course and to cap it all she had a hole in one! the details are as follows, Countryside Golf and Country Club, Hole no.13, Par three, 115 yards, 9 iron , while it is a short par 3 the green is protected by a large bunker on the right and a lake running all the way up the left so you need to hit the ball right onto the green,
she shot a 84 0n a par 70 course which is very good considering she had never played the course before.
The club will give her a memorial plaque to mark the occasion it will be ready in a couple of days we will bring it home for her.

Regards John.

Many Thanks to John for Emailing this info to us. The Strathmore Ladies Website has certainly come on leaps and bounds when we even have our very own International Reporters!

ANNETTE HAS AN ACE IN THE STATES

Hot news is that Past Captain, Annette Grewar has had a hole in one whilst on holiday in Florida.

Annette was accompanied by hubby Pete and fellow club members John and Mary Menzies and Pat and Jill Barron.

Annette and Pete were visiting John and Mary in Naples during their two week break.

Well done Annette!!

VALENTINE QUAD-AM

Our mixed convener's Marion and Iain have organised a 'Valentines Quad-Am' which will take place on Sunday 18th February. David has once again come up with a bit of fun for us all following our golf and will host a 'Mr & Mrs' competition. There will also be a 'mystery guest' and of course a fabulous menu.

If you wish to play please sign up on the entry sheet on the mixed board. Off peak members can play but of course pay the relevant green fee of £6.50 for winter greens or £7.50 if the summer greens are used. Even if you don't want to take part in the golf put your name up for the meal and entertainment. I am sure it will be another huge success.

See you Sunday
