LGU MEDAL AND THISTLE BROOCH
It is always a sign that we are nearing the end of the season when you play in the last evening draw of the season. Hard to believe we have reached this time of the year already! However two ladies are playing extremely well. They are Alexandra Bushby and Rhona McIntosh. Alex returned a scratch score of 2 under par 70 making her nett score 68. This score will bring Alex down to her lowest ever handicap or 1.2. Rhona kept her spell of form going too with yet another nett score below par. Rhona has played extremely well over the last month and even with her drastically reduced handicap still manages to maintain a very consistent level of play. Well done both!
Full results are as follows:
Scratch:
Alexandra Bushby 70
Dawn Butchart 78
Silver
Alexandra Bushby (2) 68
Dawn Butchart (6) 72
Sheena Scott (11) 73 bih
Marion Robertson (20) 73
Bronze
Rhona McIntosh (26) 70
Mary Menzies (23) 74
Sheena Peacock (21) 75
Three ladies had their handicap reduced. They were as follows:
Alexandra Bushby was 2 now 1.2 new playing 1
Rhona McInstosh was 26 now 25.4 new playing 25
Dawn Butchart was 6 now 5.4 new playing 5. I was cut due to a Stableford Adjustment (Clause 19.8) My ball decided to visit the horses at the 4th!

WELL DONE JOAN
Well done to Joan Merry for once again giving her time and energy to organise another successful Cancer Fundraising Golf Day at Strathmore yesterday. Over 230 ladies took part which must be the largest entry to date. Over £20,000 has been raised with these events which is indeed something to be very proud of Joan. Well done
Congratulations also go to mother and daughter team Sandy and Alexandra Bushby who were the winners of the event with a fantastic scratch score of 67!! Well done both.
Looking forward to next year already.

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
The Strathmore Junior Championship took place on Sunday afternoon and I was very pleased to referee what was an excellent match played by two very talented, polite and courteous young people. The finalist were defending champion Allan Easton and for the very first time a junior girl, Megan Aird.
The winner on the day was Allan who played some tremendous golf and finished in style with a 3 on the 14th. Allan was only 1 over par. Megan also played beautifully with 2 excellent birdies on 3 and 10 and her play off the tee was superb.
Both players conducted themselves in manner they should both be very proud of. There was no displays of bad temper or sulks! and even after losing a ball Megan walked back to the tee quite happily. It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon in their company.
Our congratulations go to the winner Allan Easton but Strathmore Golf Club should be very proud of our two finalist and also a special mention should go to their fellow junior members Matthew Bell, Alistair Gilmour and Grant Martin who took time out to walk round and support the finalists not only yesterday but last Sunday for the Gents Tankard final. We really have a great bunch of juniors who really deserve all our support. Well done to them all.
Also thanks go to Lady Captain Jane Taylor who came along to support the finalist and for making a very encouraging speech to the finalists. Unfortunatley due to bad weather the change of dates meant Gents Captain Jack Scott and President Peter Tinker were unable to attend as they are both away on holiday. Thanks also go the the caddies.
I have some photographs of the day most were taken by David (Bailey) Douglas so special thanks go to him. To see them just click on the link below.

Earlier this year we held a Coronation foursomes qualifying event which was won by Sally Fenner and Cathy McNab. The finals event took place yesterday at Alyth Golf Club and although Sally and Cathy were not on the list of prizewinners, they enjoyed their day and did us proud.
Well done to you both for making it to the Finals.

ALEX BREAKS COURSE RECORD
Club Champion Alexandra Bushby took full advantage of the perfect playing conditions last night when she shot an incredible scratch 68 breaking the existing course record, held by me, by one shot. I accompanied Alex on her round last night and it really was quite fantastic with only one bogey at the 2nd followed quickly with birdies at 3 and 4 she recorded an outward half of 34 then went on to birdie 12, 14 and 18 to return an inward half of 34. A brilliant round which not only broke the record but also reduced her handicap to 1. Well done Alex it was a pleasure to play with you last night.
Us mere mortals didn't fair to badly either! In the silver division Sheena Scott had the back nine of her life when she parred every hole to return in 37. Unfortunately her front nine wasn't quite as good but she did return an two under handicap 70. The winner of the Bronze division was Cathy McNab with nett 71. Full results are as follows:

I&D INSURANCE SERVICES MIXED TROPHY
I&D Insurance Services Trophy was held on Sunday and we enjoyed the largest entry to date for a mixed event. 48 people took part which was fantastic considering the weather was the worst in the 11 year history of the event. Heavy rain and very dark and damp conditions did not stop some very high scoring. With the winners mother and son team Chris and Mark Tinker scoring 43 points. 3 further couples scored 42 points. Well done all. Two players scored a massive 5 points on one hole! They were Mark Tinker with an eagle 3 on the 5th (with a shot!) and his son Rory Tinker who with two shots, birdied the 5th. Well done all.
There was also a double Celebration for President Peter Tinker and his wife Chris who along with Past President John Menzies and his wife Mary Menzies all celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Friday 3rd of August congratulations to them.
Special thanks also go to David, Lindsay and the catering staff for all their hard work. The meal was superb.
The full results of the day are as follows:
1st Chris and Mark Tinker 43

3rd Alex Bushby & Allan Easton 42
4th Dawn and Rory Tinker 42

SCRATCH LEAGUE TEAM LOSE AT BLAIRGOWRIE
After our many successes our scratch league team of Alex Bushby, Dawn Butchart, Sandy Bushby, Sheena Scott and Jane Taylor lost 4&1 against Blairgowrie lst night. Sandy was our only member to gain a point however 3 matches were lost on the 18th green.
Now we will all have to wait to see how the other teams play in their last matches to determine whether we will finish 1st 2nd or 3rd. Either way the team has performed exceptionally well on their very first year in the league.
Well done.
