CONGRATULATIONS SCRATCH LEAGUE TEAM
Our scratch league team of Alex, Dawn, Janet, Sandy and Judy, played their first match of 2008 away from home at Crieff. The weather conditions were appalling. They played through hailstorms and heavy rain. To say the team were a little wet would be an understatement, however they rose to the occasion and won the match 3&2. The whole team really have great spirit and its great to have such camaraderie between the players.
The point scorers were Alexandra who won her match 7&5, Dawn who won 5&4 and Judy who also won 5&4. It is no mean feat winning away from home and also in such awful conditions.
Well done to our team a great start to the season.

WELL DONE ALEXANDRA
Congratulations go to Alexandra Bushby who took part in the Helen Holm Scottish women's open amateur stroke-play championship at Troon over the weekend. The event had a handicap ballot of 3 or less.
Friday and Saturday Alex returned scores of 79 on Friday and an excellent 76 on Saturday. Par of the course is 75. The field was then cut and Alexandra made the cut to play in the final day on Sunday. Although Alex didn't return such a good score (84) she was, quite rightly, very pleased with her overall performance.
The winner of the tournament was 24 year old Barbara Genuini from near Nice. She won the prestigious title by two strokes with a total of 11-under-par 214 for the 54-hole event.
Well done Alex you did yourself and us proud.

COLLINS TROPHY
What a fantastic turnout we had yesterday for the Collins Trophy. 40 members turned up and played in very blustery conditions however it was dry and not too cold! Lesley Haynes had to find a replacement for her husband Graham who is suffering from a bad back (get well soon Graham!) she found a very good replacement indeed in her Father-in-law Ron Haynes and both returned an excellent score of 40 points and made sure the Collins Trophy returned to the Haynes Household for a second year running. Well done Lesley and Ron. In second place with 39 points was Dawn and Iain Butchart.
The new rule changes seem to be working well and everyone finds it quite easy and straight forward, it does seem to be fairer as all strokes are now taken at the same holes with the same par.
Well done to Marion and Iain for again giving so much time to make our Mixed events so successful.
Please get your names down for the next mixed event which is The Gary Smith Australian Day which will be on May 18th.

NORWEGIAN MATCH
Upon wakening to a very wintry morning with an inch of snow lying on the ground and more falling it look unlikely that the Scotland v Norway match would go ahead. But after a lot of discussion and the golfing gods shinning down on Strathmore the snow cleared and the sun appeared!! We tee'd off an hour later than normal but WE DID TEE OFF!!!
We had a super day with our overseas guests and albeit we lost by 9 points, it was enjoyed by all. Following the golf we had a wonderful meal and the prizes were presented by the guests of honour.
It really was a super day as you can see by the slide show above.
