OUR WEE WONDERS
I was sure you would all be interested in the fantastic news the Junior Section had this weekend! Our youngest member Matthew Sime along with Junior Girl member Kirsti Brodie, made it into the finals of the Wee Wonders which was held on Saturday and Sunday at St. Andrews. They both played fantastic golf and Kirsty completed the weekend in 3rd postition in her section. Kirstie is the nicest wee girl and smiled her way round the course both days. A great credit to her family and Strathmore. Well done Kirsty.
But the most amazing news is that our wee Matthew who just recently turned 5, has been selected to represent GB&I in the Wee Wonders Tournament in America next year. The GB&I team take on America over the Pinehurst Course in North Carolina next July. What amazing news for a wee lad who only just played on a Golf Course for the very first time in April.
We in the junior section are so very proud of all our juniors and I thought you would all appreciate to be informed of this fantastic achievement. And to think when his mum asked him what he would like if he won the competition his reply was "Some more golf balls and a poke of chips!"
Well done Matthew you certainly are our wee star. I will post a photo tomorrow!

YOUR GOLF CLUB NEEDS A NEW TREASURER!
We are sorry to say that Sheena Scott has decided to stand down as Treasurer of Strathmore Golf Club as of the AGM in October. Sheena has done a wonderful job for a number of years but has now decided to call it a day. We all thank Sheena for her commitment and hard work on behalf of the club and its members.
This leaves us with a vacancy to fill. Is there a member out there reading this thinking, "I could do that" if so please get in contact any committee member to get more details. We would like to get a new treasurer in place as soon as possible so that they can work along side Sheena for a few months before taking over. It is important for any club that its finances are well looked after so it is important that we fill this role. So if you're sat there with some spare time and fancy getting more involved in the running of the golf club nows the time to act.
Please contact any committee member for more information.

YOUNG QUAICH
I was very lucky to be out with our winner yesterday. Lesley Haynes played great golf and returned a brilliant 42 stableford points a full 6 points clear of the field. Lesley's score was no mean feat keeping in mind the wet weather we had last night. Very impressive indeed. Well done.
The full results are as follows:
CSS 72
Lesley Haynes (19) 42
Gillian Allardice (25) 36
Dawn Butchart (6) 34
Sally Fenner (20) 33
Not only did I have the pleasure of watching Lesley play well, I am also delighted to give her a very well deserved handicap cut. Lesley was 19, she is now 16.8, new playing handicap, 17.
Well done!

BARNARDOS
The finals of the Barnados Day took place yesterday at Arbroath Golf club and our representative was Sandy Bushby. Sandy won her way to the finals with an earlier qualifying round at Strathmore this year.
Sandy played exceptional golf and was just pipped at the post by two ladies who had one more stableford point. Sandy returned 34 points and finished a very credible 3rd. The top places both finished on 35 points.
Well done Sandy.

CONGRATULATIONS EMILY
Emily Aird has taken part in Scotland’s biggest junior handicap event, the Dunfermline Building Society Junior Masters. With hundreds of boys and girls from clubs across the country playing for a place in the grand final at Gleneagles, home of the 2014 Ryder Cup.
Five regional finals are taking part during the summer holidays from Duff House Royal in the north to Galashiels in the Borders. Emily played in the regional final at Ratho Park yesterday and has played her way into the final in October.
This is a fantastic achievement for Emily and we wish her every success on October 12th!
Another Strathmore junior has also made it to the finals of the boys section of the competition and he is Junior Club Champion Allan Easton.
Well done from all in the Ladies Section!
CONGRATULATIONS ALEX
Congratulations go to Alexandra Bushy who qualified into the match-play stages of the English Women’s Open Mid-Amateur Championship at Wallasey. The Tournament is open to players aged 25 or over. Alex made it all the way into the semi-finals yesterday where she was unfortunately beaten by Warwickshire’s Charlotte Dalton. Alex played great golf all week winning her first match against Welsh internationalist Laura Collin (John O'Gaunt) by 1 hole. She then met Stephanie Evans (Vale of Llangollen) in round two again winning by 1 hole. Yesterday her quarterfinal was against Kate Whitmore (Sandiway) and Alex again repeated the score line from Wednesday by winning again by 1 hole. She then made her way into the Semi-Final yesterday afternoon and even following a wonderful display of golf including an eagle 2 on the 267 yard sixth where she drove the green and holed a four foot putt, she failed to continue her winning streak losing the match 4 and 3.
A great achievement to reach the semi-finals Alex, well done!
