WHEN? OH WHEN?
At long last the snow is beginning to disappear, but with all the rain followed by hard frost, it seems unlikely that we will be playing golf for some time to come.
It is hoped that everyone will come up to the club house on Wednesday for coffee and lots of chat. Should the course be open, then a draw will be done just before 10 for anyone wishing to play.

Seeing in New Year!! 12th January 2010

The snow can keep us off the course, but you can't keep the Strathmore Ladies away!!

The first of the birthdays is coming up with Margaret Hunter and 18 of us celebrated in style over a Strathmore lunch with wine and chocolates being provided by Margaret, Sally and Cath.

A good time was had by all and a few tentative dates arranged for knock-outs even. Plus an abundance of the latest gossip!
We hope that Annette's arm continues to mend and that she will soon swop ski sticks for golf clubs!
Madam Captain has asked for volunteers for the Senior Gents Open at Carnoustie later in the year on 22nd to 25th July.
Hope to see you all next week for a roll-up, weather permitting or coffee and a chat if not.

SENIOR BRITISH OPEN
20th - 25th July

Strathmore GC has been invited to marshall one of the holes at Carnoustie where this is to be held. Those of us who helped at The Open last year had great fun and great views of all the golfers taking part. If you are interested in helping, please let any committee member know ASAP.
If, like some of our ladies, you are beginning to suffer from cabin fever, why not come up on Wednesday between 11 and 12 and have a bit of lunch and a natter.

WHEN WILL THE SNOW GO??!!

The latest forecast on Wednesday 6th January is that the snow will last for another 10 days!! Some hardy souls did venture to the clubhouse for a quick coffee and a moan about the lack of golf. As we have no results to report this week, here are some thoughts to cheer you all up as we start the New Year.

" I can't give up golf - I have too many sweaters"~
Bob Hope

"When I die, bury me on the golf course so my husband will visit. " ~

"The older I get, the better I used to be.~
Lee Trevino

"How can they beat me at golf? I've been struck by lightning, had two back operations, and been divorced twice." ~
Lee Trevino

The schoolteacher was taking her first golfing lesson. "Is the word spelt p-u-t or p-u-t-t?" she asked the instructor. "P-u-t-t is correct," he replied. "Put means to place a thing where you want it. Putt means merely a vain attempt to do the same thing."

Your best round of golf will be followed almost immediately by your worst round ever. The probability of the latter increases with the number of people you tell about the former.
