As most of you will suspect we had to postpone todays golf as it was a little wet!!!
We have rearranged to play the Autumn Meeting in conjunction with next weeks stableford!!
This however means an 8.22 start as there are no other available times.
I will put up a new sign up sheet tomorrow or sign up on line under the Charity Stableford entry.

PUTT THE HIMALAYAS, ST ANDREWS

Our annual outing to the Himalayas will take place on Tues 17th September at 11.30am. The address is West Sands Road, St Andrews, KY16 9JD. The cost is £3 per round or £1 for seniors. All you need to bring is a putter and a ball. There will be a lunch and prize giving afterwards in the Links Clubhouse. Sign up on the board in the locker room or online.

The Ladies Invitation. There was a great turnout for this annual event and we were very lucky with the weather as it stayed fine all the way round.

SCRATCH LEAGUE

Last night saw the final Scratch League match of the season, it was against Muckhart at home. Our team was Megan, Amy, Dawn, Kirsten and Sheena. One of the muckhart players thought it was at Muckhart and therefore didn’t make it. My thanks go to Sheena for coming along and having to go home but it was with a win under her belt! We went on to win the match 3-2. Megan and Amy were both up against top players and fought well, Dawn and Kirsten won their matches 5&4 and 6&4 respectively. 

Our team ended top of the league along with Pitlochry on 4 points each. This then goes to count back on games won by and unfortunately we were one behind Pitlochry on 8 and them on 9. So close and a great effort by everyone who took part throughout the season. 

My thanks go to everyone who has played and supported the team over the last 5 or more years I have been Team Captain and I wish the new Captain great success in 2020.

Sandra and myself enjoyed a great day at Crieff.today. Unfortuneately we lost our match on the last hole but Europe won overall! Hope this is repeated in a couple of weeks. We had a lovely lunch and a wee massage!!! and of course a picture with the real Solheim Cup.

Signing up for competitions online

We have been trying to find a simple way of allowing the ladies to sign up online as an alternative way of putting your name down for a competition. This could be useful for people who live further away from the club, are away on holiday or just for those who find it easier to use. It will also allow you to take your name off a list without going up to the club as long as this is done before the draw has taken place.

We have decided to trial this for a few weeks until the end of September to allow us to see whether it is something that ladies find useful and also to get feedback from you on anything which might make it easier/better.

Having looked at a few ways of doing this we have decided to set up another BlogSpot purely for signing up for competitions - this will be updated after every draw. At the moment we have put a list of dates up for the remainder of August and September.

We have made up a simple guide on how to access the blog along with the sign in information and if you are interested in using this if you e mail me back, I will send you the instructions. I am also happy to show anyone how to use this at the club or chat through on the phone at any time. The other members of the committee have also tried it so hopefully lots of help available.

We are not replacing the sign-up sheets which are in the locker room - just providing another way.

I can`t believe it. !! It is almost the end of August and with it comes the Autumn meeting on Saturday 31st August at 10.00. Please come along and swell the numbers . There will be fantastic spot prizes as well as the glory of lifting a trophy or two!  Hope to see as many of you as possible.

PERTHSHIRE WOMENS AID CHARITY

Sandra and myself will represent Strathmore Ladies at Crieff in the Solheim Cup on the 27th August!!! (Well we will be allocated into team USA or Team Europe.) We are not being charged to play but we are invited to make a donation to the Solheim Cup appointed charity which is Perthshire Women`s Aid. To raise funds for this I will run a little raffle with AMAZING PRIZES (maybe a bottle of wine?) I will catch as many of you this week as possible. Please give to this good cause. I know I can rely on your support.

The ladies from Perth kindly travelled to Strathmore to avoid us having to tackle the new ramp which has been installed to aid access to their course.
The weather was very kind and the sun made an appearance too. Strathmore managed a win with the score 2 1/2  - 1/2   . Thank you to all ladies who played and apologies to those cancelled at short notice due to King James fielding only 6 ladies.

CAPTAIN`S DAY

Thank you to all who came along to enjoy a round of golf  in perfect weather conditions, followed by  a tasty meal. The berries were delicious Annette. The course was in amazingly good condition considering the amount of rain we have had and we had the added bonus of bunkers being GUR.!!!

MIXED INVITATION DAY - SUNDAY 25th AUGUST 

This is a free golf day, start time 12 noon, open to all members to bring along a golfing friend to partner in this mixed 4 ball better ball stableford competition. There is an optional 2 course meal, £15 per person, menu will be put on mixed notice board.

Ladies it is only 3 weeks until our ladies invitation day.
 This is just a wee reminder in case you need to get in touch with a friend to come along and have a round of golf and something to eat. The sign up sheet will go up soon but persuade family /friends to come along.
You can of course play with another member but will not be eligible to win the main prizes. You can still win a spot prize.

I know this is a bit late but well done to Sandra who had an eagle on the 15th playing in the Presidents Cup.  She got money for a magic 2 but it was a bit more magic than most.! Well done Sandra!
