Your Winter Course queries were taken to the Management Committee
Q: What is the ruling in the absence of Red / Yellow / White Stakes removed for winter maintenance?
Ruling - The course plays with the hazards still in play - this means a penalty drop and not a free drop. The confusion has arisen around the red stakes missing at the back of the winter green on the 6th hole, but applies across the course.
Q: Are there preferred lies on winter greens?
Ruling - No
Q: Could we alter our stroke index to better suit the layout of the winter course?
Ruling - This question was particularly relevant to the 5th and 11th. The answer is yes, but it is thought that the cards may already be printed in quantity for next year (I will check further) and the layout set up on HDID. It was not met with much enthusiasm at the Management Committee. This would need significant planning ahead and co-ordination with the Centre to avoid any waste or excess cost.
Request from the Head Greenkeeper:
Damage has been caused to the holes by players using the flag stick to remove the ball from the hole. The greenkeeping team would urge you to please stop using this method and to help keep the hole edges tidy for all players. Thank you.
