The Turkey Trot will now take place on Wednesday 16th December at 10am. As usual, play will be over 12 holes on the Winter Course. Unfortunately there will be no meal or festivities afterwards but please feel free to don your festive gear to play in. Please sign up through How Did I Do or on the PSI in the clubhouse by Saturday 12th Dec.
If so wished, Ladies can make a donation to Charity on the day , which at this event, will be Held In Our Hearts. This is a Scottish based charity supporting families following the death of a baby, through specialist bereavement services including befriending and counselling. Please give generously.

We have now agreed that the WL will resume on the 12th December and you can book for the first three competitions on the How Did I Do app and on the PSI (in the clubhouse). We are also going to send an e mail to everyone about the new booking arrangements for competitions after the 12th December. A summary will be put on the blog and copies left in the locker room.
The Turkey Trot has now been rescheduled for the 16th December (Golf only) but we are looking for lots of Santa Hats, Xmas Jumpers and anything else festive!
It is with great sadness that I have to inform you of the death of Kay Finlay earlier today. Kay will be sorely missed by us all at Strathmore Ladies and will be fondly remembered for her gentle ways and keen sense of humour.
A past Lady Captain , Kay retired from the committee last year as Handicap Secretary, having given a lot of her time and wisdom to the Ladies Section.

Following our committee meeting this afternoon it was agreed to continue with the suspension of the Winter League and knockout competitions until 11th December when travel restrictions will be reviewed again. Extensions will be given for Knockout ties if required.
Unfortunately this includes the Turkey Trot due to take place on 9th December. Bounce games will continue to take place - please indicate if you would like to be included through the ladies sign up in the usual manner.
Hopefully we will get more sunny days like today for our golf in the next few weeks!

I am sure most of you are aware of the new travel restrictions issued by the Scottish Government this week which will become law at 6pm on Friday. Following on from this Scottish Golf issued detailed guidance yesterday on the implications of this including the summary sheet below which shows the travel restrictions.
As a committee, and in conjunction with the gents committee, we have decided to suspend all organised golf until the 11th December when the Scottish Government will issue further guidance. All organised draws and knockouts are suspended until that date.

We know this is very disappointing for everyone, however, we can still play and book golf for bounce games - and you can play to the summer greens if they are in play! Ladies dedicated tee times will be held for booking. More to follow on WhatsApp.

Now that we are due to start the Winter League on Monday we thought it might be worth reminding you of a few things.
Ann has put up a list which shows what our Playing Handicap will be for the Winter League competition. We will be playing off 3/4 of our new Handicap Index and over the winter 12 hole course.
Only 2 cards can be submitted each week for the WL and eclectic, although you can play 3 times a week. Only the two counting cards need to be entered on the system. Given the current restrictions two matches can be played outwith the draw. Anyone playing outwith the draw should add their names to the blog sign up sheet along with the dates they intend to play. All bunkers are GUR and there are preferred lies on the fairways.
Scores can be entered through the How Did I Do app on your phone or on How Did I Do on the computer under Today’s Golf. The app allows us to sign in, put in the name of our marker and input our score. The PSI is operational again and you can, if you wish, enter your score on the PSI but please ensure to sanitise your hands “before and after use” and sanitise the PSI as well.
Cards can also be left in the box and Connie will enter these into the system. The results for the three weekly competitions will be published once a week.
Due to the ongoing restrictions you will need to keep your own eclectic record sheet and these are available on the notice board. These need to be handed in to Connie at the end of the WL. The first round of the eclectic must be played over 18 holes, two cards can be entered each week and any number of changes can be made.
As normal the knockouts will be played on full handicaps and these have been entered on the sheets. For the doubles the handicap is half the combined handicaps.

Hi Ladies we have changed this Wednesday to the Tri-Am Accumulator which had to be cancelled due to bad weather. Also as the new WHS is not going to be available until Mon 2/11/20 on Club V1 we have decided to delay the start of the Winter League until the following week so that we can get the competition set up in the new format. We will still play the 12 hole next week but if you have any suggestions for different formats please let us know.

Each team has ONE YELLOW BALL and this is played in rotation by team members. On each hole 2 scores count for each team, one of which must be the yellow ball. If the yellow ball is lost the team is out of the competition.
A good turn out of 28 braved the cold damp conditions on Sunday morning, as usual some very good scoring achieved.
In third place was Steve, Margaret and Catherine, In second place was Graham, Sandra and Jane, and the winners with an impressive score of 55.5 was Mike, Gary, Kevin and Diane.
Thanks to everyone taking part in the Mixed competitions this season, under the present circumstances I am sure everyone has enjoyed these competitions.
We have Four Tee times booked every Sunday going forward for a turn up and play, depending on numbers we can have some fun formats.
Congratulations to Christine Bruce who won The President's Cup in style today with 42 points and a large handicap cut. 👏👏👏 Great conclusion to your 2 years as Lady Captain.

After a little rain this morning it was decided to cancel the Leitfie Links competition. !!! As we have delayed the start of the winter league we have rescheduled this competition on the 31st Oct .
Another change is that the Presidents Cup, ( a mixed individual stableford ) has been resheduled for the 17th October. This is a 10am shotgun start which means our strokeplay competition will not take place at that time. Hopefully as many as possible will play in the Presidents cup but if you do not wish to please remove your name from that date. Sorry for the upset but we will aspire to be like Gwen and come out on top!

As a follow on from the winter knockouts post, this is to advise you that the start of the winter league will be delayed until the week of 2nd Nov. This will bring the start in line with the new handicapping system which is becoming active then. ( don't worry re the new system ! All will be revealed in due course) . We have put up a post on the sign up blog for the Doubles and Singles Winter Knockouts. Please enter your names by 23rd October and the draw will take place and be published the following week. Due to the ongoing Covid situation the committee have decided not to collect winter competition fees this year. This will be a one off and will be reconsidered next year when hopefully we can return to some form of normality.

37 ladies and gents braved the rather early, cold and frosty morning start. However, the sun did come out with ideal conditions for playing golf. The results are as follows:

There was only one two recorded - Sheena Scott at 6th.
As you will all understand, due to the imposed restrictions, the committee has decided that there will be no formal AGM and Prizegiving this year.
We will send an email to all club members with the reports from the committee. (Those with no e mail access will receive a written copy). The new committee will also be published as well as the competition winners list. Trophies will of course be engraved.
Hopefully this will allow the committee to move forward and prepare for next season.
