Mixed competition Collins Trophy Winners

 On a lovely sunny afternoon, our first Mixed golf competition took place for a very long time. A good turn out of 16 couples took part, with good scoring from all who took part.

The winners of the Collins Trophy were Findlay Souch and Jane Millar with 47 points.

Second place was Steve Saunders and Margaret Young with 46 points.

Third place was Sandy McGibbon and Sally Fenner with 45 points.

A very well done to all who took part, please sign up for the next competition (Fraser Fours) the 23rd May.

R & A 9 Hole Challenge Friday 23rd April

Some of you may have seen this competition included in our bookings as it was put on as a mixed competition by the Gents. This is a new competition and we thought it might be useful to clarify a few points for those that are interested in participating.

 

The list below covers the main points but the most important thing is that you do not have to book onto a Zone for this one. These were set up to accommodate people who were either working or had to play at a certain time. However, you must sign in and enter your score as normal. You can play at any time on that day as long as you comply with the rules below:

 

1.     Pairs must be nominated prior to play.

2.     Pairs can be male, female, mixed or an adult and a junior (max 1 junior)

3.     Play will be over Holes 1-9 of Rannaleroch Course. 

4.     You do not need to play in the same group as your partner, individual stableford points will be added together after scores have been entered into the computer.

5.     If you do play in the same group/time as your nominated partner, you cannot mark their card or give advice. 

6.     Playing Handicaps will be calculated on the day based on the 9 hole course. Handicaps have been calculated to include the necessary adjustments so stableford points will be comparable against every other player regardless of which tee is used.

 

The winners from Strathmore will qualify for the National 9 Hole Final at Milnathort Golf Club on either Thursday 10^th or Friday 11^thJune, 2021.

Many thanks to all Gents, ladies and junior members who braved the bitterly cold conditions today to take part in the annual Captains V Vice - captains match. £285 was raised and will be split between Alzheimer Scotland and Guide Dogs for the Blind Training Centre, Forfar. Grateful thanks to all who gave so generously.

GOLF UPDATE

 Hi all, 

          Due to the latest Scottish Government guidelines, ALL Mixed competitions have been cancelled for the month of April,  we will continue with events when the guidelines from Scottish Golf allow us to do so. However we have some times reserved each Sunday from 11.0 am for those wishing for a game.

Golf Update

 Hello ladies,

The latest update from Scottish Golf states that from Friday 12th March, golf can be played in 4 balls with no restrictions on the number of households for members who live within the local authority area. 

If players cross a local authority boundary to play, golf can be played with a maximum of four players from two households.

Since this restricts some of our members, the ladies will remain as book your own tee time and partners until 28th March. Hopefully this will not last too long and we can get back to our draws and the fixtures very soon.

Golf Update

 Hello ladies,

It has been so nice to be back on the course in the past week or so - and the weather has been kind to us. 

Just a wee update to let you know that due to current restrictions the Lady Members night due to be held on Monday 22nd March is cancelled. A modified Captains Drive in will take place on Saturday 27th March - details will follow soon.

Golf Update

 Hello Ladies,

I hope you are all well despite getting no golf in at the moment. Hopefully February will be milder and we can get back on the course soon.

The ladies committee have just met this evening on Zoom and have decided that the Winter league and knockout competitions be abandoned for the rest of the season. So far we have only played 10 winter league games. When we are able to get on the course again it seems unlikely that  we will be able to play in any more than pairs for a time, and with the ongoing travel restrictions, it was felt that the competitions should not continue. 

I hope that you will be understanding of this decision.

Golf Update

 Happy New Year to all Strathmore Ladies!

Updated advice from Scottish Golf following the First Minister’s announcement yesterday allows golf with a maximum of two players from up to two households. The same 5 mile travel restriction from your own local authority still applies. 

Ladies times will still be available but you should book directly with the centre and arrange your own playing partner.

Golf update

 You should have received an email from Strathmore Golf advising that all competitions are suspended from 26th December as we move into Tier 4 restrictions. Golf can continue in a maximum of two households. 

Ladies tee times will be protected for Monday 28th and Wednesday 30th next week but you should contact the centre directly to get your name on a slot. If you had already booked to play your name has been allocated to a tee time which you can check on BRS online. If you do not now wish to play a casual game please advise the centre. We hope to keep ladies times for casual games- more information to follow.
