On a lovely sunny morning the Ladies took on the Senior Gents in this annual fun match. Eight teams of ladies and gents burned up the course with some very impressive scoring in  4BBB Stableford format. The result was very close in the end.

Ladies 306 points     Senior Gents  294 points.

Ladies Friendly Match V Arbroath

 On a beautiful sunny afternoon the ladies played the last friendly match of the season at Arbroath today but unfortunately lost the match 3 1/2 - 1/2. Thank you to everyone who played today and to all who have played in the matches throughout the season.

PUTT THE HIMALAYAS

 There was a great turn out of Strathmore Ladies at the Himalayas Putting in St Andrews this morning. The rain stayed off for everyone to complete their round. The scores were extremely close with the top three all scoring 45 points.

Winner (acb) Sandra Barber who is the first Winner of the Himalaya trophy in memory of Val Tait. 

Runner up : Shona Deans also with 45 points, and third was Jane Millar. 

Winning team : Sandra B., Jane M, Sandra M and Marion Robertson.

PAST CAPTAINS DAY

 Ten Past Captains took to the course this sunny afternoon to contest the Past Captains Trophy. 

The winner was Margaret Young - the very first Lady Captain of Strathmore, with 38 points (acb)

Runner -up was the "latest" Past Captain, Christine Bruce also with 38 points.

 The day was rounded off by a lovely meal in the clubhouse when two further Past Captains joined us.

British Open for Disabled Golfers

 The annual match of BDGO and Strathmore members was held on Tuesday 7th September in beautiful sunshine. Teams results are:

1st place : Jim Gales, Jim Thomson and Martin Lowe - team average 43 points

2nd place: John Pennycott, Paul Higgins , Iain and Dawn Butchart - team average 39 points.

Thank you to all Strathmore members who played in this fun event and to the BDGO for generously hosting a meal for all competitors. 

The centre have received a email of thanks to Strathmore for hosting the 3 day event, praising the green keepers for having the course in excellent condition and to the restaurant staff for their warm hospitality and delicious food.

Scottish County Finals

 Congratulations to Perth & Kinross County Ladies on winning the 2021 Scottish County Finals played over Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Forres Golf Club. This was the first time in 68 years that P & K have won this event. What a fantastic achievement! 

Wooden Spoon and SCAA charity match 29th August

 Hi All,

          I have been instructed to say nice things (ordered by Jane) on the playing of the annual Wooden Spoon event, on a beautiful sunny afternoon this event was as usual hotly contested and some very good scores posted this event was played sportingly and with some good banter. Congratulations to the Ladies for winning by 24 stableford points and handing the Wooden Spoon back to the Gents for the first time in a while.

We collected £157 for the SCAA charity, thanks to all for your generous donations to this very worthy cause.

British Disability Golf Match

 This annual event takes place on Tuesday 7th September at 1300 with a 2-tee start. Some of you may have noticed that this used to be the Scottish Disablity Open and is now the British Disability Open with even more competitors taking part! A great event for Strathmore to host!

The pre-open match against Strathmore Golf Club will require about 36 members from both ladies and gents sections to compete in this fun, friendly event! A complimentary 2 course meal is provided by the BDGO committee for all competitors afterwards.

Please signup for this event on the mixed noticeboard if you can play - or let me know and I can add you to the list.

Perth & Kinross Ladies Handicap League 2021

 

Perth & Kinross Ladies Handicap League 2021

Strathmore Ladies have completed all their matches in Section A of the Perth & Kinross Ladies Handicap League, recording two home wins against King James VI and Blairgowrie - after the second attempt, due to the match being abandoned the first time to thunder and lightning! Two losses away to Auchterarder and Crieff were both lost 2-3, so very good effort from the team on both occasions.

Many thanks to all those who played for Strathmore, in what turned out to be a great fun league, with all matches being played in very friendly spirits. Teams fielded players with a wide range of handicaps, and I would encourage anyone to take part if available next season.

Sincere thanks must go to Jane Millar, our team Captain, for coordinating with the other participants and for organising the teams for Strathmore. A great job, Jane!
