Lady Captain's Day 2026

This year's individual stableford competition was played in shorts and t-shirts weather, a little cooling breeze at times was welcome, and we had sunny spells but warmth all day. The weather gods were on our side.

Our 9-holers started mid-morning and joined up with those starting at the 10th once they had headed onto the 1st to begin their 'back nine'!   34 ladies played today and posted some excellent scores.

The results are:

1st place and winner of the trophy         Connie McKenzie - 40 points.

2nd  place                                              Anne Baird  - 39 points (acb)

3rd place                                                Alison McLaren  - 39 points

This year's team prize was the total points scored by all 3 players on the 6th, 12th and 18th holes today.

The winning team was Lesley Redden, Katie Livingstone and Ann Cameron.

There were 3 lucky seats who all won a sleeve of golf balls. Well done to Jane Douglas, Alison McLaren and Katie Livingstone.

A special mention went to Alison McLaren who had an Eagle on the 9th!

The ladies then sang Happy Birthday to Margaret Anderson for tomorrow. She was suitably mortified! :)

Nearest the Pins on the Par 3s:

4th (Div 1) Connie McKenzie     6th (Div 2) Rena Lister

13th (Div 2) Gwen Doe         17th (Div 1) Kirsty Brodie

                                                                    (oh so nearly a hole-in-one!)

Thank you to the amazing kitchen staff who provided a beautiful meal for us all and to Annette Grewar for donating all the delicious raspberries and strawberries that we enjoyed with lashings of cream!

Our greenkeepers were out and about on the course, Spike even gave a clap as he admired one of the team's shots on the 9th. The course is in great nick considering the dry weather we've had, so a big thank you to Paul and his team.

And a massive thank you to all of you ladies who make a day like this so much fun.

President's Day 2026

We had a great turn-out of nearly 100 golfers on a damp morning that turned out to be a dry, warm 18-holes with the wind picking up as we went. This was an individual Strokeplay competition this year with the usual sweep and twos money being paid before play started at 9am with a shotgun start.

Our President - Fred Barber; Mrs President(!) - Sandra Barber; Ladies' Captain - Judy Goodfellow; Gents' Captain - Gavin Greig

Well done to all players.

RESULTS:

1st Place & President's Cup Winner: Jim Kennedy (64)

2nd Place & Gillian Allardyce Trophy for First Placed Lady: Sandra Barber (66)

3rd: Derek Macdonald (67)

4th: Peter Wilkinson (67)

5th: Brian McGowan (68)

The usual amazing hot and cold buffet was served by the Kitchen and Restaurant staff.  Thank you to the Club's General Fund for subsidising the full cost this year for every player.

There were 11 players who had 2s, a special mention to John Mill who had two 2s on his card!! Well done John.

The Nearest the Pin prizes went to:

Ladies Open - June 2026

A successful Ladies Open 4BBB was played in mostly wet conditions, so well done to all the competitors for persevering! There were some excellent scores considering the conditions and these are listed below.

Thank you to all the committee and volunteers for all the preparations, donations and rota jobs on the day. It all helps to make the event such a success.

There was an impressive £227 raised for charity and the event has boosted the ladies section funds through the raffle and a proportion of the entry fees.  This is a really important event in our calendar to keep the funds healthy.  This means we are more able to subsidise events and meals for the ladies in the future and of course fund prizes and vouchers.
