ALL GOLFED OUT!!

Alexandra Bushby and Dawn Butchart took part in a sponsored golf day held at Strathmore Golf Club yesterday. The event, which was organised by Alexandra, was to raise monies for the Scottish County Finals which Perth and Kinross qualified for as the Northern Champions. This takes place at the Hirsel in Coldstream from 22nd - 25th September with a practice day on 21st September.

The sponsored day consisted of 54 holes of golf in one day. Along with Alex and Dawn were team member Sally Kettlewell, and County Captain Janet Griffiths. Alexandra, Dawn and Sally set off at 7.15am for their first round, Janet joined them at 12.00pm for the second round and they all played again at 5.45pm eventually crawling off the course around 9.15pm!!

Many thanks to all Strathmore Golf Club Members who donated sponsorship to this event and also to all other sponsors who contributed. We raised around £600.

CONGRATULATIONS PENNY!!

Warm congratulations go to Penny Maxwell who had her first ever hole in one today! She holed her tee shot on the par 3 4th, her playing partner was Kay Findlay.

Penny has had a great golfing week, not only has she had her first ace but she has also reduced her handicap by 3 shots.

EXTRA DAY MEDAL RESULTS

With 12 players playing below their handicap, yesterday must be the best collective scoring of the season. In the silver division Sheena Scott topped the leader board with a nett 67, Sheena playing off 11 scored a gross 78 which is her best ever game of golf, well done Sheena. Next in line was Dawn Butchart with a net 69. In the Bronze Division there were 5 players who shot below 70! The winner was Mary McDiarmid with a nett 65!!! Well done Mary. In second postion was Mary West with a nett 68, this was on the back of her cut on Monday when she posted 44 points in the summer league. Mary was 2nd on a better inward half from junior Charlotte Bushby who also scored an excellent 68. Well done.

RNLI MEDAL

The scoring was excellent on Saturday for our annual RNLI Medal event. Marion Robertson posted a great nett 67 followed by Sandy Bushby with a nett 70 and for once the CSS remained at 72.

A bit of a change to the weather conditions still did not deter some ladies returning excellent scores and once again the CSS was 71! In the bronze division Anke Maclachlan posted a fantastic nett 70 which was excellent considering the wind and rain! 3 Silver players posted 72's with Megan Aird at the top with a better inward. Great for Megan considering she has lost 11 shots over the summer period!

Sorry we are a wee bit out of sync here! But this is the results from Saturday's Scott Trophy which I haven't had time to post but they are so good that we can't possibly not have them on the website. Hiroko Graham played beautifully and posted a nett 67 closely followed by Megan Aird with a 68. Megan has just came back from the Scottish Junior Girls Championships at Stirling where she played so well she had a handicap cut to 18. Well done Megan

I am sorry I don't often report the results from Summer League as I am either away or working hard and don't know the results to post them!! So I apologise to all the ladies who have scored well over the last few weeks and have not had their scores on the Web Site.

However I will try from now on to report all the summer league results, if I don't have them and you have played well, let me know!

Yesterday saw some very good scores being returned so much so that the CSS was once again reduced to 71! Sandy Bushby topped the leader board with a fantastic 41 points! Well done Sandy, great scoring. Full results are as follows:

J SCOTT (PRINTERS) TROPHY

Jack and Sheena Scott hosted the J Scott Printers Trophy Mixed Event this Sunday and it was a huge success. The weather was fantastic the turnout was excellent and the organisation was spot on! Scoring was very high and the winners on the day was our Lady Captain Annette Grewar along with her partner Rory Hudson who scored an impressive 44 points.

PRESIDENTS DAY

Congratulations go to Sheila Bailey on winning the President's Cup on Saturday. Out of a field of 60 ladies and Gent's Sheila topped the score board with a tremendous nett 67. Well done Sheila. Mary Menzies won the nearest the pin and Dawn Butchart won the longest drive. Congratulaions to them also.
Congratulations also go to Chris Tinker with a nett 69 bih and Sheena Scott also with a 69. CSS for the day 72, Sheila has been cut to 33.5 new playing handicap 34.

CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS DAY

Our Club Championship day on Saturday was a huge success with some super golf on display. Over 30 members played a Texas Scramble over 12 holes then stayed on to watch the final round of the Club Championship.

The Rosebowl Handicap Championship was played over 18 holes between finalists Gillian Allardice and Marion Robertson. Gillian went on to win the Rosebowl for the 2nd year running. Well Done to both.

The Club Championship finalists were Alexandra Bushby and Dawn Butchart. The Championship final is over 36 holes and this was the 6th year running that both had taken part in the final day which is credit to them both. Alexandra played some superb shots around the greens and went on to win the final on the 33rd green. Well done Alexandra.

JULY STABLEFORD RESULTS

Summer at last, what a joy to play golf in shorts and Tee Shirts without worrying if you have a jumper in your bag or not! The sun certainly shone on our winner Eleanor Fenwick who had 39 points. Eleanor has had a super season as she also qualified in the top 8 scratch players for the Club Championship this year. Well done Eleanor.

unfortunately for those of us who were just in the buffer by one shot, the standard scratch once again reduced to 71!!
