 On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, seven teams took to the fairways for a very enjoyable Texas Scramble, as usual there were some good scores.

In second place were Jane and Sandra Millar, and Findlay Souch with a score of 63.6.

The winners this week were Christine Bruce, Marion Robertson and Gavin Greig with a score of 63.0

 With a good turn out of 14 couples, we all enjoyed a good afternoons competition, with the weather staying kind to us all.

Winners of spot prizes were :- Nearest the pin Ladies Diane McLuskey.

                                                 Longest drive Ladies   Margaret Anderson.

                                                 Nearest the pin and longest drive Gents Vinnie Millar.

The winners of the Jack Scott Trophy;- Diane and Gary McLuskey with a score of 46 points.

Runners up were Liz Nikalous and Gavin Greig with 44 points.

Some discussion has taken place within the ladies’ section about having a polo shirt or sweater with the Strathmore logo on it for playing in our friendly matches, the handicap league – or just playing any time on the golf course! Many of our opponents have tops in team colours – but please note that there is absolutely no obligation to purchase either to be able to play in any Strathmore events!!

Glenmuir has our logo and will embroider free of charge and our golf shop has offered a very competitive price plus a tiered discount for orders received: 10 orders – 10% discount, 15 orders -15% discount and 20 or more -20% discount. This will be dependent on definite orders with commitment to purchase. (Any orders made out with the bulk order will receive the normal 10% discount).

The preferred style and colour of the polo shirt is shown: Glenmuir, Gina, in magenta/white – cost without discount £36.

STRATHMORE LADIES OPEN RESULTS

 

Ladies Open

 A successful day was had at the Ladies Open today. The weather eventually decided to play ball with the drizzle stopping early on to allow nearly all competitors get round dry in near perfect conditions. Results will follow soon.

Sincere thanks to Blackadders for their generous sponsorship of this event, with every player receiving a lovely trifold towel. Blackadders also donated spot prizes for Nearest the Pins, Longest drives, Magic Twos and Main prizes. Grateful thanks to Jane Millar for arranging this for us and to the lovely team of ladies who came along to assist on the day. 

I would like to thank Sheena most sincerely for her excellent preparation and  organisation allowing the day to run so smoothly. Very positive comments were received on the runnings of the day - Well done Sheena! Ann Cameron must be commended on having everyone’s handicaps calculated and ready on the morning. 

Thanks also to Eric, Fred, Ian and Norman who gave up their day to help out with car parking, starting and registration. Your support was very much appreciated by the Ladies section.

 My  thanks must go to all ladies who volunteered to help on the day and to all who kindly donated raffle prizes. Your generosity was amazing!

Finally, I must thank David and the centre staff for all their support on the day. Scott and the greenkeeping team had the course in excellent condition too.
