P&K WIN

The P&K County Team won the Northern Division of the Inter-County Team Championship this weekend at Downfield this weekend. A practice match was held on Friday then the event commenced on Saturday with P&K playing Northern Counties. We played Foursomes in the morning and won 2 matches to 1, then in the afternoon 6 single matches were played with P&K winning 4 out of the 6 games. The final score on the day was 6-3. Then on Sunday we played title holders Aberdeenshire on Sunday again foursomes in the morning where we again won 2-1 then in the afternoon we drew 3-3 making the overall match a win for p&k 5-4.
We went into Monday knowing all we needed was a draw against Angus. Our players went into the match eager to win, the morning foursomes resulted in a 3-0 victory and with only 1.5 points required in the afternoon the team went out and won 5-1 making the final score 8-1.
It was a fantastic weekend and with two Strathmore members involved with the team (myself as Captain and Alex a team member) we should all be very proud of this fantastic achievement. We now go onto the Scottish Finals which will be held in September at Inchmarlo.

This is only the 2nd time in 26 years that P&K have won this event and it is indeed the most prestigious trophy in the County calender, well done us!! We also had the 3 top point earners of the tournament with Carly Booth and Emily Ogivly o 5.5 points each out of a possible 6 and our own Alex Bushby not far behind on 5 points well done!

I would also like to thank Starhmore members, Janet Griffiths, Rhona McGeoghegan and Sandy Bushby who kindly came along and supported the team. It means a great deal to have supporters present it really spurs the players on. So thank you.

The team is pictured above they are back row left to right, Team Coach Andrew (Gleneagles), Captain Dawn Butchart (Strathmore), Match Sec/Selector Shona Leighton (Alyth), Alex Bushby (Strathmore) Vice Captain Lenore Kyle (Kinross), Eve Muirhead (Pitlochry), Carol Muir (Craigiehill), Laura Walker (Muckhart), Team Coach John (Gleneagles), bottom row right to left Jillian Milne (Craigiehill), Carly Booth (Comrie), Emily Ogilvy (Auchterarder) and Annabel Niven (Crieff).

The team had an average handicap of 2 so you can imagine the standard of golf which was played.

Jane asked me to put on all the photo's for those who are not members of the County and don't visit the P&K website so here they are!

If you would like to see a full report and more pictures click to the P&K websit on the right handside of the page.
