CHAMPIONSHIP DAY 2012

Saturday dawned with a forecast of impending doom and waterproofs seemed to be the order of the day. Fortunately the worst of the weather failed to make it to Strathmore and instead we were rewarded with some spectacular golf from all of the finals played.

The 2012 Ladies Championship and Rosebowl Finalists

The Championship was a closely fought, nailbiting battle between Dawn Butchart and Kirsty Brodie that ended on the 36th hole. This great match finally resulted in a great win for Kirsty and her first Strathmore Ladies Championship title.
Well played to both.

Kay Finlay won the Bronze Rosebowl in a closely fought match against her Ladies Doubles Partner Edith Ralston

The finalists receiving their awards  from Lady Captain Jane Douglas are pictured below.
Unfortunately Jack Scott had to leave before the presentation.

The Gents Championship was won by Norman Dyce on the 33rd hole beating Scott Thomson 5 & 3 while the Tankard was won by Stewart Flannigan on the 17th against Jack Scott.

In the Junior Scratch Final Michael Brodie made it a Brodie family double with a win against Brad Bannerman.

Congratulations to all the Winners.  It was agreat day for all, despite some rain and overcast skies, with some very impressive golf played by all.

Thanks must go to the Centre for ensuring plenty of time and space on course for all the matches and to the greenkeeping staff for presenting the couse in first class condition. Finally thanks must go to all those who spectated for the support and encouragment given to all the finalists and who were rewarded by a feast of hard fought, competitive matchplay golf
